Early leaders covered the area from Urbana to Zanesville and helped Eastern Union become a center of activity among Ohio’s Baptist associations. Their institutes for ministers helped prepare the way for the statewide body later known as the Ohio Baptist Convention.

Generations of moderators, presidents, pastors, teachers, and lay leaders continued that work. Eastern Union became especially known as a home for ministerial education, fellowship, retreats, and programming designed to strengthen the local church.

The association remains blessed by the service and wisdom of its past moderators and by a new generation committed to keeping the spirit of Eastern Union alive.
